The WCRP Working Group on Coupled Modelling (WGCM), the CMIP Panel and the WGCM Infrastructure Panel (WIP) would like to thank all those who responded to the “CMIP Community next steps survey” providing in-depth, insightful, and honest feedback that will help support the development of future phases of CMIP.
A total of 318 responses were submitted and a first stage analysis has now been completed by the CMIP International Project Office (CMIP-IPO). An overview of survey respondents is now published on Zenodo. The CMIP Panel and WIP are now reviewing all the available analysis to determine and design the further engagement required to delve more deeply into the key points raised and engage groups that were underrepresented in the survey respondent group. This process will guide the definition of the next phase and potential future structure and governance of CMIP.
If you missed the opportunity to contribute to the survey and have feedback on CMIP6 and how you see a future CMIP, please contact the CMIP International Project Office at with ‘CMIP feedback’ as the subject line.
Original call:
The WCRP Working Group on Coupled Modelling (WGCM) and the CMIP Panel are already working hard in preparation for the next phase of Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP). Specifically, we need to hear from everyone their views on the positive aspects and challenges they faced in CMIP6, and how they would like to see future phases of CMIP structured and delivered.
For that, we are inviting the community to take part in the “CMIP Community next steps survey”. It is your chance to help us shape the future of CMIP!
The CMIP survey is now closed.
A PDF document with all survey questions is available but responses must be submitted via the SurveyMonkey link above.
