8 June, 2023 @ 05:30 – 06:45 UTC
Are you, your organisation or MIP planning on participating in CMIP7, or using CMIP7 data, and have new variable requirements? Or are you developing a model and planning to use it to generate data for CMIP7? The CMIP Data Request Task Team, CMIP Panel and WIP is pleased to announce a set of virtual drop-in sessions to discuss the community’s needs and capacities as we plan for CMIP7.
The first of the sessions will be held 14.00-15:15 UTC on Thursday 1st June with a second session on Thursday 8th June, 05:30-06:45 UTC for those in Asian and Australasian time zones (see the event page for the first session by following this link).
The sessions will be chaired by one of the CMIP Panel Co-chairs and led by the Data Request Task Team co-leads, Martin Juckes (CEDA/STFC, UK) and Chloe Mackallah (CSIRO, AU). In these informal, discussion focused sessions attendees will be asked to provide feedback on their evolving variable needs (in terms of complexity, volume, and timing) with respect to increasingly complex models and meeting the demands of downstream users, and the capacity of models and workflows to support those needs.
This is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and input actively in the design of CMIP7, to discuss potential opportunities and barriers with MIPs, modelling centres and users, and to build partnerships.
