CMIP at EGU25
27 April @ 08:00 – 2 May @ 17:00 Europe/Vienna
The EGU General Assembly 2025 (EGU25) brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.
Townhall: An update on CMIP7: forcings, data request, the REF and more (TM6)
With CMIP7 simulations due to start in many modelling centres this year, a number of key components are being finalised to enable this. The forcing datasets required to run the DECK have recently been published and the final version (v1.2) of the CMIP Assessment Fast Track Data Request was released at the end of March 2025. Together these components are being developed and delivered by a huge group of scientists across the CMIP community. Additionally, work has begun on developing the CMIP Assessment Fast Track Rapid Evaluation Framework (REF) to enable a systematic and rapid performance assessment of the models uploading Assessment Fast Track data.
The first half of this Townhall will feature updates on the forcing datasets, CMIP7 Data Request, the Rapid Evaluation Framework, and plans for a sustained mode CMIP. In the second half of the Townhall, an number of Fresh Eyes Projects will present their ongoing work.
Event location: Room N1
Event time: Wednesday 30th April 2025, 18:30-20:00
Bring your drinks from the EGU social hour – we will provide snacks for attendees!
